Every day, nurses across Ascension Wisconsin make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients.

From providing high-quality, compassionate care, to offering encouragement and moral support when times are tough, nurses are there for patients when they need it most.

To express their gratitude, patients across Ascension Wisconsin have honored their nurses through Ascension Wisconsin Foundation's Guardian Angel program.

Guardian Angel Nominations

The following testimonials were written in each patient's own words.

“Our family would like to recognize Naomi as one very special nurse for the kind and dedicated care she gave to my husband. Naomi served as his night nurse many times. After she was told it was his favorite genre of music, Naomi went the extra mile by playing classical guitar recordings to soothe Dennis during the night… She really helped support all of us from the time Dennis was intubated, through several surgeries, and as he began to get better. Naomi was always cheerful, empathetic, kind and efficient - the perfect qualities anyone would wish for in a nurse. Thank you Naomi, from the bottom of our hearts.”

“My nerves were extra high the morning of my C-section. I was unbelievably fortunate Sarah walked through my door that morning. I will never forget while I was getting my spinal she held my hands as I was crying because I was so scared and having flashbacks of being back in an OR for my 3rd degree tear repair. Sarah got me through the PTS I was having by just holding my hands and being in the room during my C-section. She made me feel safe and I felt so much comfort from this amazing person I had only just met.

After the trauma I experienced physically from my first labor and delivery I was so nervous about having our second baby. I do not think I could have gotten through it without Sarah. I often thought God must have sent me an angel to be by my side and help me be strong. Thank you Sarah. You are an angel. Women are so lucky to have you by their sides. You bring comfort and support when it is most needed."

“I had to undergo emergency surgery to repair a ruptured colon, and while the entire team was incredible, I really want to highlight Anna-Marie. Words can't fully capture how caring, calming, and reassuring she was throughout the whole experience. She patiently answered every question we had and gave me the confidence to face the challenges ahead. It's hard to express just how much of an impact she had on me and my family. Her support truly made all the difference.”

As a former athlete I was declared permanently disabled the end of 2015. The able bodied world is not designed for the disabled community. Michelle made me feel seen. She showed me grace, compassion and kindness. Providing me safety and assurance with the multiple transfers that were needed the day of my cataract surgery. She explained everything completely as she administered the many eyedrops required pre-op along with anything additional she was doing. We never know what life will bring our way. We need to be kind to the people who cross our paths. Thank you, Michelle, for being an amazing RN.”

"It is difficult to be a patient after having been a registered nurse for a very long career. At a recent hospital stay, Sue was the kindest, most caring nurse I had ever met. She embodies what I remember throughout my years to be a very good nurse. Sue wasn’t judgmental and only showed kindness, gentleness, caring and support toward me. She took extra time just to show that she cared about me, and she was understanding of the medications I am on. She took the time to acknowledge how I must feel both physically and mentally, and I was grateful to have had her care for me."

Sue, RN, Ascension Elmbrook

“Lori went above and beyond. Each night, she would be very concerned  about my hypoglycemia including while I slept. She would listen for my Dexcom alarm since my blood sugar wouldn't stabilize most of the time I was there. She watched my blood sugar drop even during and after eating. She was very concerned but one of the nicest nurses/people at Ascension.”

Lori, RN, Ascension Mercy
